About Me

Hello! My name is Anna Shumanskaia. I am a professional photographer, living in Paris. I was born in Pyatigorks, Russia in the family of teachers, artists and actors. The beauty of my region, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains, the paintings of my father and my grand-father plunged my childhood into an artistic atmosphere that influences my life perception and my creations. Having acquired a Master's Degree in Linguistics in Russia, I also studied photography at “Photoplay”, Moscow. In 2015 I moved to Paris, where I learned French and got my Master’s Degree in Photography at Spéos (Paris Photographic Institute). Since that time I have been participating in numerous individual and collective exhibitions. In April 2018 I published my photo book "Personalized Dress Code" in English and in French. In 2021 came out my second photobook "Portraits in Lockdown". "Between Present and Past" is not only my third photo book but also a voyage to my artistic roots. It came out in 2024. Identity is one of my principal values. I look for it and express it in my photographs. Such as portraits of the people, wearing potatoe sacks or the naked bodies, emerging from water or those, painted in their emotions. I ALWAYS have creative ideas and suggestions, positive attitude and things to share!
